‘The Grainfather’ Overview

An introduction to, and overview of, the ‘The Grainfather’; an electric all-in-one brewing system for 5-6 gallon batches of beer.
This video discusses what it is, what it does, why I have it, and what I’ll be doing with it in the very near future.

  1. I am considering purchasing a grainfather. I have enjoyed watching you demo videos on the grainfather (as well as many others). I am pretty much a novice extract brewer and world like to step to ElAB.

My question is, do you think using a sous-vide would be an effective way to heat the sparge water?

    1. It is possible. I used a sous vide stick in my small batch BIAB video last year to heat and maintain mash temperature, but it took nearly an hour to heat a few 2-3 gallons of water to 153 deg F. There are much better and faster ways to heat water.

      1. Use the Grainfather to heat your sparge water before brewing and pump it to a cooler for storage and later use. This is what I’ve done thus far for every Grainfather brew day.
      2. Use your stove top.
      3. Use an induction heater plate
