Building a Hot Liquor Tank: A DIY Project

An easy step-by-step tutorial on converting a 10 gallon beverage cooler into a Hot Liquor Tank (HLT) for all grain brewing. This is another component in my 5 to 10 gallon brewery upgrade project.

1/2″ Brass Ball Valve
1/2″ Brass Close Nipple
13/16 ID x 1/8 Thick O-Ring
7/8 ID Steel Washer

  1. Hi Larry, very much enjoying your video’s and howto’s.

    One doubt/ question I have about the igloo cooler as HLT … what would be the maximum sparge water temperature it can take ? I tend to sparge at approx. 194°F (90°C) and I don’t want the cooler to melt or to give off bad chemicals.
