Zombie Juice #1 NE IPA Recipe and Tasting

The follow up to my NE IPA Brew Day video on the Grainfather, the beer is tasted and the recipe provided. It was a very successful first NE IPA! Grain bill consisted of 2-row pale malt, flaked oats, red wheat malt, and rice hulls. Hop Bill consisted of a blend of Citra and Mosaic hops in three additions: First Wort Hops, a Hop Stand, and as Dry Hops.

  1. Hi Larry just ordered an Anvil Foundry 10.5 gallon system with the pump and decided to do your Zombie Juice for my first beer as it looks great!Wondering if you have a dry yeast in mind I could substitute for this beer as I don’t do yeast starter?Been brewing extract for 20+ years and your videos have convinced me to jump in to the all-grain.Thank you for your great videos and info they are by far and away the best on YouTube and entertaining as heck!

    1. 2 oz of high alpha boil hops for a 5 gallon batch is definitely going to be bitter. I had a similar experience with my Zombie Dust clone while developing it over several iterations. Was only after moving some of that to first wort hopping that the harshness mellowed out.
